To convert DXF to PDF, open the drawing in a CAD program and print it as a PDF: AutoCAD’s Plot with a PDF plotter such as DWG To PDF.pc3, or print to PDF from LibreCAD or QCAD. Without CAD software, Publish Media Software (PublishMedia) opens the .dxf in a browser so you can check every sheet at no cost; exporting the PDF is part of a paid plan.
Sheets keep their size; white CAD lines turn black for paper.
Opening and viewing the DXF are free. Turning it into a PDF needs a paid plan.
Look over every sheet on the Free plan before buying anything.
Paper-space layouts become PDF pages at the same sheet size.
Model-space-only drawings land on one Letter-size PDF page.
White lines become black so they show up on paper.
On a paid plan, put a title page or notes first.
Paid plans export a PDF ready to email or print.
Not ready to convert yet? Start with one of these.
Convert DXF to PDF without AutoCAD by opening the drawing in a program that reads DXF and printing or exporting it as PDF. LibreCAD, QCAD and DWG TrueView print to a PDF printer at no cost once installed. Publish Media Software (PublishMedia) needs no install: open the .dxf in a browser, check it, and export on a paid plan.
Sign up at publishmediasoftware.com; no credit card is required to open and check a drawing.
Drag the .dxf in and wait for each sheet to appear; detailed plans can take half a minute.
Any .dxf up to 250 MB
Open the drawingShow a building project to your congregation on a print-ready bulletin page.
See bulletin designsStart an empty page that lists the sheets, revision dates and contacts before the drawing.
Blank pageThe drawing opens as pages, so the PDF matches what you checked on screen.
Each paper-space sheet becomes a PDF page at its own size, keeping the title block and viewports.
When a drawing has no layouts, the whole thing is fitted to one Letter page before export.
Paid plans let you add a cover page, notes, pictures or a parts table, then export them with the drawing in one PDF.
The PDF can’t be turned back into a DXF, and the drawing’s lines can’t be edited. Keep the original .dxf for changes.
A church renovation plan often needs a page in the weekly bulletin too.
Print-ready bulletin layouts for building updates, events and the order of service, ready to use on a paid plan.

Four steps with PublishMedia. The first three are on the Free plan.
Sign up at publishmediasoftware.com in a modern browser. No card needed.
Drop the drawing onto the start screen and let every sheet load.
Use Print Preview to confirm the title block, dimensions and line colors look right.
On All-Access or Monthly, export the drawing and save the print-ready PDF.
From CAD software you may already own to options that need no install, with the platform, price and main drawback of each.
As of October 2026, six common ways to convert DXF to PDF are Publish Media Software (PublishMedia), AutoCAD, DWG TrueView, LibreCAD or QCAD, Inkscape and LibreOffice Draw. In AutoCAD, drawings print to PDF with Plot and a PDF plotter such as DWG To PDF.pc3. DWG TrueView is Autodesk’s free Windows viewer for DWG and DXF. LibreCAD and QCAD’s community edition are no-cost 2D CAD programs, Inkscape imports DXF as artwork, and LibreOffice Draw imports DXF but may not display complex drawings fully. PublishMedia opens DXF in a browser at no cost to view and exports print-ready PDFs on paid plans; it does not convert PDF back to DXF.
Open the DXF in a modern browser on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux or iPad and check it at no cost; PDF export is $99 a year or $9.99 a month. Limit: layout-free drawings are fitted to Letter, not to scale, and DWG won’t open.
In AutoCAD for Windows or Mac, use Plot and choose a PDF plotter such as DWG To PDF.pc3, then set paper size, scale and plot style. Limit: AutoCAD is paid software, so this route makes sense only if you already have it.
Autodesk’s free Windows viewer opens DXF and plots it to PDF with AutoCAD-style scale and paper settings. Limit: Windows only, and it’s a full desktop install for what may be an occasional job.
Both no-cost 2D CAD programs open DXF on Windows, Mac and Linux and print to a PDF printer, where you choose paper size and scale. Limit: you have to install one and learn its print settings.
Import the DXF into Inkscape, the free vector graphics program for Windows, Mac and Linux, then choose File › Save As and pick PDF. Limit: it treats the drawing as artwork, so check scale and text before you send the PDF.
Open the DXF in LibreOffice Draw, part of the free LibreOffice suite for Windows, Mac and Linux, then use File › Export As › Export as PDF. Limit: complex drawings may not display fully, so compare the PDF with the original before sending it.
Checking a DXF in PublishMedia is on the Free plan; turning it into a PDF is not. The Free plan opens and views unlimited drawings and deletes them after 7 days, with a reminder email first. PDF export, notes and extra pages come with All-Access at $99 a year (recommended) or Monthly at $9.99 with cancel-anytime billing, along with every template, saved projects and unlimited storage. Monthly suits a one-off job; if you’ll pay for ten months or more, All-Access costs less.

You can convert DXF to PDF at no cost with an installed program: DWG TrueView on Windows, or LibreCAD, QCAD, Inkscape or LibreOffice Draw on Windows, Mac and Linux, can all print or save a drawing as PDF. Publish Media Software lets you open and check the drawing at no cost, but its PDF export is part of a paid plan, $99 a year or $9.99 a month.
In AutoCAD, open the DXF, click the layout or Model tab you want, type PLOT, choose a PDF plotter such as DWG To PDF.pc3 under Printer/plotter, and set the paper size, plot area and scale. Click OK and name the file. Repeat for each layout tab you need in PDF form.
A PDF from PublishMedia is only as close to scale as the sheet it came from: a paper-space sheet keeps its own sheet size, while a model-space drawing is shrunk or enlarged to fit a Letter page, so it usually won’t match a standard scale. When an exact scale such as 1:100 matters, plot from AutoCAD or DWG TrueView and choose the scale yourself.
PublishMedia does not convert PDF to DXF, and a PDF keeps a drawing’s lines only as page graphics, not as CAD objects. AutoCAD can bring a PDF’s vector lines back into a drawing with its PDFIMPORT command, which works best when the PDF came from CAD software. Keep the original .dxf for any future changes.
Faint lines usually come from light layer colors, such as yellow or cyan, printed on a white page. PublishMedia turns white CAD lines black, but other layer colors keep their color, so a yellow layer can look pale on paper. In AutoCAD, plotting with the monochrome.ctb plot style prints every line black.
A DXF with several paper-space layouts opens in PublishMedia as several pages, and the PDF export includes all of them. Combining separate DXF files into one PDF isn’t something PublishMedia does, because it doesn’t merge PDFs. AutoCAD’s PUBLISH command can gather sheets from several drawings into one multi-sheet PDF.
Upload client drawings only to a service your client or employer is comfortable with, because any website converter receives a copy of the file. Publish Media Software encrypts files in transit and never uses them for public templates, and free-plan files are deleted after 7 days. For confidential drawings, an installed program such as DWG TrueView or LibreCAD keeps the file on your computer.
Send a PDF when the person only needs to look at or print the drawing, because every computer and phone can open a PDF, while a DXF needs CAD or viewer software. Send the DXF as well when they need to change the drawing or cut parts from it, since a PDF can’t be edited as CAD.
On a Mac, open the DXF in LibreCAD, QCAD or Inkscape and print or save it as PDF, or open it in Publish Media Software in Safari or Chrome and export the PDF on a paid plan. AutoCAD for Mac plots to PDF too. In any Mac print dialog, the PDF menu at the bottom offers Save as PDF.
