Your PDFs, wherever you sign in

A cloud based PDF editor that keeps your work in your account

A cloud based PDF editor keeps your files in an online account instead of on one computer, so you can open the same PDF wherever you sign in. Publish Media Software (PublishMedia) works that way in any modern browser. The free plan opens and views PDFs and keeps them 7 days; paid plans add editing, saved projects and unlimited storage.

On a paid plan, saved projects open on any computer where you sign in.

Free plan: open and view PDFs, kept 7 days. Paid plans: editing and unlimited storage.

What does a cloud based PDF editor mean?

A cloud based PDF editor stores your documents in an online account rather than on one computer’s hard drive, so any device where you sign in can open them. In Publish Media Software (PublishMedia), free-plan files stay 7 days; paid plans save projects with unlimited storage, and files are encrypted in transit.

Three ways to put a PDF in your account

Whichever you choose, the work lives in your PublishMedia account, not on the computer you happen to be using.

Upload a PDF you have

Drag it in from the computer you’re on, or browse to it. On a paid plan it’s saved as a project you can reopen elsewhere.

Up to 250 MB; viewing is free

Keep a reusable template

Flyers, bulletins and programs you redo every month can stay in your account, ready to update on a paid plan.

How PublishMedia handles storage and privacy

The plain rules for where your PDFs live and how long they stay.

Free plan: 7 days

Files you open on the free plan are stored for 7 days, then deleted automatically. A reminder email arrives first, so nothing disappears by surprise.

Paid plans: unlimited storage

All-Access and Monthly save your projects in your account with unlimited storage, so they’re there when you sign in from another computer.

Encrypted in transit

Files travel between your browser and PublishMedia encrypted, and they’re never used for public templates.

One editor on every device

The page editor has the same tools on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux and iPad, so switching computers doesn’t mean learning anything new.

How to work on one PDF from two computers

A typical week: start on one machine, finish on another. Saving projects needs a paid plan.

1

Sign up once

Create an account at publishmediasoftware.com in any modern browser. Starting needs no credit card, and one account works on every device.

2

Upload the PDF on the first computer

Drag the PDF in, read the Import Report and make your first changes to the text, pictures or pages.

3

Sign in on the second computer

Open the same account on another computer or an iPad. On a paid plan your saved project is waiting, so carry on editing.

4

Export when it’s finished

Go through the pages in Print Preview, export a print-ready PDF on a paid plan, and save it on whichever device you’re using.

6 cloud-based PDF editors compared

Each one runs in a web browser, but how long it keeps your files differs. The cards cover what you can change, what it costs and the limit to know.

As of October 2026, a cloud based PDF editor is one that runs in a web browser and keeps files in an online account, so the same document opens on any computer. Publish Media Software (PublishMedia) stores free-plan files for 7 days and gives paid plans ($99 a year or $9.99 a month) unlimited storage and saved projects, with files encrypted in transit. Adobe Acrobat runs on the web, with text editing by paid subscription. Google Docs keeps converted copies in Google Drive at no cost but loses most of the layout. Smallpdf, iLovePDF and Sejda offer browser tools with capped no-cost tiers and paid plans.

1. Publish Media Software (PublishMedia) — saved projects, page editing

Sign in from a Windows PC, Mac, Chromebook, Linux machine or iPad and the same files are waiting. Paid plans save projects with unlimited storage; free-plan files last 7 days. Editing and export are $99 a year or $9.99 a month. Limit: no co-editing or comments.

2. Adobe Acrobat on the web — Adobe’s online version

Acrobat runs on the web as well as on Windows, Mac and mobile, so you can reach it from any computer. Changing existing text needs a paid Standard or Pro subscription. Limit: a full subscription even for occasional edits.

3. Google Docs with Google Drive — stored in Drive

Upload a PDF to Google Drive and choose Open with › Google Docs; the copy lives in Drive and opens anywhere you sign in to Google, at no cost. Limit: the conversion keeps the words but drops much of the design and many photos.

4. Smallpdf — browser tools with a no-cost tier

Smallpdf is a browser-based PDF service with a no-cost tier that has usage limits, plus paid plans. Handy for a quick file job from any computer. Limit: check how long it keeps uploads and what each plan includes before relying on it for storage.

5. iLovePDF — task-by-task web tools

iLovePDF offers browser-based PDF tools, such as merging and compressing, with a capped no-cost tier and paid plans. Limit: it’s organized around one task at a time, so it suits quick jobs more than a document you keep updating.

6. Sejda — online PDF tools in any browser

Sejda runs in the browser with a no-cost tier that has usage limits, and paid plans for heavier use. Limit: as with any tool site, read its terms on how long uploaded files are kept before sending private documents.

Cloud PDF editing: your questions

What happens to my PDF after 7 days on the free plan?+

After 7 days, a file opened on the free plan is deleted automatically, and PublishMedia sends a reminder email before that happens. Your original PDF stays on your computer either way, because uploading doesn’t remove it. To keep working on a project longer, switch to All-Access or Monthly, which include unlimited storage.

Can I start a PDF at work and finish it at home?+

Yes, on a paid plan: save the project in your Publish Media Software account at work, then sign in at home in any modern browser and reopen it. There’s nothing to email or copy to a USB stick. On the free plan you can open and view files on any computer, but projects aren’t saved for later editing.

Is my PDF encrypted when I upload it to PublishMedia?+

Yes, files are encrypted in transit between your browser and Publish Media Software, and they’re never used for public templates. As with any online service, upload only what you’re comfortable keeping online, and follow your school’s or employer’s rules for confidential records.

Can my whole office edit one PDF together in the cloud?+

Not at the same time. Publish Media Software doesn’t offer real-time co-editing, comments or version history, so one person works on a project at a time. To pass the work along, export the PDF on a paid plan and send it, and the next person can open that PDF in their own account.

Does a cloud based PDF editor work without internet?+

No, a cloud based PDF editor needs an internet connection, because the editor and your files are online. Publish Media Software has no offline mode. If you often work without Wi-Fi, keep LibreOffice Draw or Adobe Acrobat installed for those times and use PublishMedia when you’re connected.

Is a cloud based PDF editor the same as Google Drive?+

No. Google Drive stores files and previews PDFs, but its preview doesn’t change their text; converting to Google Docs does, at the cost of most of the layout. A cloud based PDF editor such as Publish Media Software stores the file and edits its pages in place, so the design survives. Many people use both.

Can I open my saved PDFs on a phone?+

Yes. Sign in to Publish Media Software in the browser on an iPhone or Android phone and your files open there; on a paid plan your saved projects open ready to edit, with Save and Export kept at the top of the narrow screen. Long or detailed jobs are still easier on a computer, Chromebook or iPad.

Do I still need my own copy of the PDF?+

Yes, keeping your own copy is wise. Uploading a PDF doesn’t remove it from your computer, and free-plan files in PublishMedia are deleted after 7 days. Paid plans keep saved projects with unlimited storage, but an exported PDF in your own folder is still the simplest backup to print or share.

How is a cloud PDF editor different from emailing files to myself?+

A cloud PDF editor keeps one working copy in your account, while emailing yourself creates a new copy every time you send it. With Publish Media Software on a paid plan, you reopen the same saved project on each computer, so there’s no hunting for the newest attachment. Exporting gives you a PDF whenever you need to share it.

What does cloud storage cost in PublishMedia?+

Unlimited storage is included in both paid plans: All-Access at $99 a year (Recommended) or Monthly at $9.99, cancel anytime. There’s no separate storage fee. The free plan stores files for 7 days at no cost, which is enough to open, view and check a PDF but not to keep it.
